【摘要】:Thepurposeofashipboardfiredetectionsystemistoprovidewarningsoastoreducethelifesafetythreatfromfireandtominimizethefirethreattotheoperationoftheship.Giventhatfewshipsareidenticaleitherinsizeorlayout,itfollowsthatthefiredetectionsystemwillhavetobecustomdesignedaccordingly.Awell-designedsystemprovidesareasonablesubstitutetohavingcrewmembersonconstantfirewatchineveryprotectedspacewhereafiremightoccur.Thebasicfunctionofthefiredetectionsystemistoautomaticallyandreliablyindicateafireconditionasquicklyasispracticalandtoalertresponsibleindividualsofafirersquo;existenceandlocation.Thissystemdesignandapplicationguideaddressestheindividualstepsinthelayoutofthesystemaswellasanoverviewoftheinformationneededtodesignasystem.TheU.S.CoastGuardandtheInternationalConventionfortheSafetyofLifeatSea(SOLAS)regulationshavebeenstatedasrequirementswithinthisguide.Additionalguidelinestoassurecompleteandeffectivesystemsortoincorporategoodindustrypracticesarestatedasrecommendations.1.1Thisguidecoverstheselection,installation,maintenance,andtestingofshipboardfiredetectionsystemsotherthansprinklersystems.1.2Thisguideisintendedforusebyallpersonsplanning,designing,installing,orusingfirealarmsystemsonboardvessels.Asitincludesregulatoryrequirements,thisguideaddressesthosevesselssubjecttoregulationsandshipclassificationrules.However,theprinciplesstatedhereinarealsosuitableforunregulatedcommercialvessels,pleasurecraft,militaryvessels,andsimilarvesselsthatarenotrequiredtomeetregulationsforfiredetectionandalarmsystems.1.3Limitations-Thisguidedoesnotconstituteregulationsorshipclassificationrules,whichmustbeconsultedwhenapplicable.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
