【摘要】:1.1Thispracticedescribestestmethodsanddataanalysesusedtodevelopmodelsforthepredictionofthelong-termbehaviorofmaterials,suchasengineeredbarriersystem(EBS)materialsandwasteforms,usedinthegeologicdisposalofspentnuclearfuel(SNF)andotherhigh-levelnuclearwasteinageologicrepository.ThealterationbehaviorofwasteformandEBSmaterialsisimportantbecauseitaffectstheretentionofradionuclidesbythedisposalsystem.ThewasteformandEBSmaterialsprovideabarriertoreleaseeitherdirectly(asinthecaseofwasteformsinwhichtheradionuclidesareinitiallyimmobilized),orindirectly(asinthecaseofcontainmentmaterialsthatrestricttheingressofgroundwaterortheegressofradionuclidesthatarereleasedasthewasteformsandEBSmaterialsdegrade).1.1.1Stepsinvolvedinmakingsuchpredictionsincludeproblemdefinition,testing,modeling,andmodelconfirmation.1.1.2Thepredictionsarebasedonmodelsderivedfromtheoreticalconsiderations,expertjudgment,interpretationofdataobtainedfromtests,andappropriateanalogs.1.1.3Forthepurposeofthispractice,tests1.1.3Forthepurposeofthispractice,testsarecategorizedaccordingtotheinformationtheyprovideandhowitisusedformodeldevelopmentanduse.Thesetestsmayincludebutarenotlimitedtothefollowing:Attributeteststomeasureintrinsicmaterialsproperties,Characterizationteststomeasuretheeffectsofmaterialandenvironmentalvariablesonbehavior,AcceleratedteststoacceleratealterationanddetermineimportantmechanismsandprocessesthatcanaffecttheperformanceofwasteformandEBSmaterials,Serviceconditionteststoconfirmtheappropriatenessofthemodelandvariablesforanticipateddisposalconditions,Confirmationteststoverifythepredictivecapacityofthemodel,andTestsoranalysesperformedwithanalogmaterialstoidentifyimportantmechanisms,verifytheappropriatenessofanacceleratedtestmethod,andtoconfirmlong-termmodelpredictions.1.2Thepurposeofthispracticeistoprovidemethodsfordevelopingmodelsthatcanbeusedforthepredictionofmaterialsbehavioroverthelongperiodsoftimepertinenttotheservicelifeofageologicrepositoryaspartofthebasisforperformanceassessmentoftherepository.1.3Thispracticealsoaddressesuncertaintiesinmaterialsbehaviormodelsandtheirimpactontheconfidenceintheperformanceassessment.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatoryrequirementspriortouse.
